Public transportation is cheap, but also can be crowded during the rush hours. There are 4 main types: the trolleybus, bus, tram and minibus. Both tram, bus and trolley bus will get you just about anywhere in the city for 1 hryvnya (around 10 Euro cents). This price is valid for as long as you want to be on the tram/bus/trolleybus (not depending on the line or the distance). These type of transport stop at every stop on the route. During the day they operate every 3-5 minutes in the center and 5-7 minutes in the suburbs. In the evening after 9 p.m. they go every 10-15 minutes in the center, 15-20 minutes in the suburbs.

Minibuses can be found throughout the city. They are like the buses, but faster, smaller, and they don't stop at every stop. If you are on board you must tell the driver that you want out at the next stop, and if you are waiting for one you must flag it down. You will pay about 1,5-2 hryvnya depending on the route. They operate from 5 in the morning till 11-12 at night, during the weekends they work till 2 a.m.
